Kia India updates all its engines to BS6 Phase II compliant
Kia India has introduced its refreshed RDE-compliant vehicle line-up with an updated powertrain and additional features in the Seltos, the Sonet and the Carens.
The updated lineup now has an improved petrol powertrain that is now E20 fuel compliant. The Smartstream G1.5 T-GDi, which produces 160PS of power and 253 Nm of maximum torque, has replaced the Smartstream G1.4 T-GDi turbo petrol engine in Carens, which has remained unaltered.
The Sonet's 1.5 CRDi WGT diesel engine has been replaced with the 1.5 CRDi VGT, which offers a higher power output of 116 PS as opposed to the prior 100 PS. The identical engine in Seltos and Carens receives a little boost in power output, providing 116 PS instead of the previous 115 PS.
With the success of the iMT in mind, all current Kia India cars with diesel and petrol turbo engines come standard with the 6iMT gearbox. With this change, the manual transmission is currently only offered in Seltos, Carens, and Sonet versions equipped with Smartstream G1.5 naturally aspirated engines and Smartstream G1.2 variations.
Kia has also launched the ISG (Idle Stop Go) function, which is now standard across all models, along with improvements to the engine. As a new connected car function, the Kia Connect Skill for Amazon Alexa has been included.
The new lineup is now offered at all Kia dealerships in India, with prices for the Sonet starting from Rs 7.79 lakh, the Seltos from Rs 10.89 lakh, and the Carens starting at 10.45 lakhs.
