Maruti Suzuki Victoris wins Indian Car of the year at ICOTY 2026
The ICOTY is the most prestigious automotive award in India, and the winners have been selected by 19 decorated judges representing esteemed publications, which also include Kranti Sambhav, Editor at OVERDRIVE and Rohit Paradkar, Assistant Editor at OVERDRIVE.
The panel consist of seasoned experts from esteemed publications that will evaluate the nominations on the basis of key factors such as performance, practicality, frugality, and safety, to name a few.
Every year, the ICOTY jury nominates eight contenders in each of the categories. This year's nominees for the Indian Car of the year 2026 were Hyundai Creta Electric, Hyundai Venue, Kia Carens Clavis EV, Kia Syros, Mahindra XEV 9E, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Skoda Kylaq, and Tata Harrier EV.

And this year's India Car of the Year was bagged by the Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

The panel recognised the car for its well-rounded package, combining efficiency, modern features, strong safety credentials and broad market appeal. The Victoris churns out 103 PS and 139 Nm of torque on the petrol variant, 87 PS and 121 Nm of torque on the CNG and 92 PS and 122 Nm of torque on the strong hybrid.
Introduced as a versatile offering aimed at Indian buyers, the Victoris is available with multiple powertrain options, including petrol, strong-hybrid and CNG variants. Its flexible lineup, coupled with a focus on comfort, technology and fuel efficiency, has helped it resonate with a wide range of customers.
