Kia Clavis teased ahead of global launch on May 8
Kia has officially teased its upcoming Clavis SUV before its global launch on May 8. The SUV is expected to be positioned below the Seltos in Kia's India lineup. It will be partnered by a refreshed version of the Carens Multi Purpose Vehicle, which will now offer ADAS for enhanced safety.
The Clavis, as seen in the official teaser, showcases a boxy silhouette with upright proportions, square wheel arches and a tall stance, hinting at its rugged design ideology. While Kia has not disclosed technical specifications yet, the Clavis is expected to be offered with petrol and electric powertrains, which will likely debut in 2025. Spy shots suggest the Clavis will feature signature Kia design elements such as the Tiger Nose grille, split LED headlamps and vertically stacked taillamps.
The SUV is expected to appeal to both urban and semi-urban buyers looking for a practical yet stylish vehicle. Meanwhile, the Kia Carens facelift has also been spotted testing with updated front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, and the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance System(ADAS). The ADAS suite will likely include features such as forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind spot detection and adaptive cruise control, making a significant safety upgrade for the Multi-Purpose Vehicle(MPV).
The Clavis and the updated Carens are expected to be produced at Kia's Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh. The Clavis targets young adventure seekers, and the Carens aims to elevate safety standards in the MPV segment. Pre-bookings for the Clavis may begin shortly after its official reveal, with launch timelines for both models expected in the coming months. More details regarding specifications and pricing will be unveiled on May 8th, 2025.
