The South Korean auto giant Kia has updated the Carens lineup with the introduction of new variants, which takes the overall number of variants to 30. The key upgrades include a new diesel powerplant, various new features, and a new exterior colour. The Carens begins at Rs 10.52 lakh, and the latest diesel version starts at Rs 12.12 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia Carens: Engine and Transmission

Currently, the Carens diesel comes with either the iMT or a torque converter. With the update, the Carens IMT diesel is set to be replaced by a 6-speed manual gearbox. The IMT is expected to be phased out. The 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 115PS and 250 Nm of peak torque.

The MPV is also available with two 1.5-litre petrol engines, one naturally aspirated and the other turbocharged. The engines produce 116PS/250 Nm and 160PS/253 Nm respectively.

Kia Carens: Variants and Features

With the new version, Carens will be mainly available in nine variants: Premium, Premium (O), Prestige, Prestige (O), Prestige Plus, Prestige Plus (O), Luxury, Luxury Plus, and X-Line.

With the launch of new trims, the Prestige +(O) version in 7DCT and 6AT now comes with a sunroof, LED Map lamp, and room lamp. The new Prestige (O) variant offers the choice of 6 or 7 seating capacity, a leatherette-wrapped gear knob, a smart key with push-button start, LED Rear Combination lamp, LED DRL, and a positioning lamp.

Kia has given the top-of-the-line X-Line variant, some new premium features such as a dashcam, all window auto up and down with voice commands, and 7-seating options. The X-Line Carens was first launched in October 2023 and was strictly offered as a 6-seater with captain seats for the middle row.

The Premium (O) trim adds convenience features such as keyless entry, an 8-inch D/Audio system, a Shark Fin antenna, a steering wheel-mounted remote control, burglar alarms, and improved safety measures. All models also now get a 180W charger, which is an upgrade over the 120W charger that was available earlier.

Kia Carens: Colours and Pricing

Furthermore, the Carens introduces a brand-new colour - Pewter Olive, available in all models except the X-Line. This addition provides customers with a choice of 8 monotone, 3 dual-tone options, and 1 exclusive matte colour for X-Line. The Kia Carens' price has increased, with a new base price of Rs 10.52 lakh and rising all the way up to Rs 19.67 lakh.
