Jaguar Land Rover opens wait list for the upcoming new Range Rover Electric
Land Rover has announced they have now opened the wait list for the upcoming Range Rover Electric SUV, ahead of formal orders being made available to customers. As the first of its kind, the brand will keep its on-road and off-road credentials as the standard Range Rover.
The first completely electric car from Range Rover will reinforce its contemporary luxury credentials, announcing the next milestone in its modern luxury electrification journey. The testing procedure will prove the Range Rover Electric's capacity to withstand high temperatures, all climates and terrain, and wade through up to 850mm of water.
The electric Range Rover is being built in JLR's facility in Solihull, near Birmingham, with many of the same tools as the present Range Rovers, which are hybrids with smaller batteries and a petrol engine. If JLR's ambitions alter, the same machinery will allow it to move more swiftly between electric and petrol hybrid variants.
According to JLR, the car will have 800-volt charging, enabling substantially quicker charging speeds when utilizing the network of ultra-rapid chargers, which are often positioned on major roads and highways for longer travels. The Range Rover will also be the company's quietest vehicle, thanks to more efficient electric motors.
Global on-road testing has begun in conditions ranging from -40° C to +50° C, from Sweden to Dubai. To assure the robustness of the electric drive system, including its underfloor, battery durability, chassis integrity, and vehicle dynamics tests for thermal derating, the worldwide physical testing program has been updated for Range Rover's first completely electric car.
Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director, Range Rover said, "Since going on sale in 2021 the latest generation Range Rover has set a new benchmark for desirability. Across the globe, we're seeing the highest levels of client demand in our 53-year history. Because of this unprecedented success story, we're now opening the official wait list for the opportunity to be among the first to place a pre-order for the most anticipated Range Rover of recent times. Marking a new era for the Range Rover brand: the original luxury SUV is now available as an all-electric model."
