India-bound Hyundai Creta facelift secures five-star ASEAN NCAP rating
The Creta facelift has been awarded a five-star safety rating by ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). It scored 27.78 out of 32 points for adult passenger protection and 39.67 out of 51 points for child occupant protection. Additionally, ASEAN NCAP tested the SUV for safety assist system and motorcyclist safety, achieving 14.79 points and 11.42 points, respectively. Overall, the Hyundai Creta facelift scored 75.78 points.
Hyundai Creta facelift ASEAN NCAP crash test
In terms of the frontal crash test, the SUV provided good protection for adult occupants and with the frontal compartment rated as stable. Whereas, the side impact protection test showed marginal protection for the driver's chest. According to the ASEAN NCAP new test protocols, the Creta facelift was tested for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) alongside AEB Inter-Urban. ASEAN NCAP has stated that the technologies performed according to its requirements.
Hyundai Creta facelift safety features
ASEAN NCAP tested the Indonesia-spec Active variant of the Hyundai Creta facelift. This base variant gets two airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and Seat Belt Reminder (SBR) as standard.
Hyundai also offers the facelifted Creta with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Auto High Beam (AHB) - all these safety assist features are available either as standard or optional fitment. Other optional features include Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) for motorcycles and Child Presence Detection (CPD).
Hyundai Creta facelift India launch
Hyundai is expected to launch the new Creta facelift in India sometime in early 2023. It will feature a new exterior and interior design and additional features. However, the SUV Is likely to continue with the same powertrains as the on-sale Creta.
