Hero MotoCorp has set the stage to launch a new motorcycle in India on 14 June, 2023. The brand has listed a new upcoming model on its website. Also, there is a short teaser video, titled, "a new race is getting ready", that shows a sneak peek of the wheels and front disc brake of the new bike.

That said, while the brand has planned several new offerings this year, such as the Karizma XMR and Xtreme 200S 4V, the first upcoming motorcycle will reportedly be the new Xtreme 160R. It is to be noted that the updated motorcycle wearing a full body camouflage has been spied on few occasions. Meanwhile, the Apache RTR 160 4V and Pulsar N160/NS160 currently dominate the 160cc segment. With the new Xtreme 160R, Hero will probably be able to try to attract new buyers.

New Hero Xtreme 160R: Design and colours

The upcoming new Hero Xtreme 160R is likely to receive major design changes with sportier and aggressive styling. For reference, it may get a new sharper front end and headlight, reworked fuel tank, and revised tail section. While the current model is available with five distinctive colour options, the new one could feature fresh graphics and new paint schemes.

New Hero Xtreme 160R: Engine, power outputs, and gearbox

We expect the new Xtreme 160R to carry the same 163cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine as the on-sale model generating 15.2PS at 8,500rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The motor might receive a subtle upgrade. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Not to mention, the engine will meet the new BS6 phase-2 (OBD.2) emissions norms and be compatible run on E20 fuel.

New Hero Xtreme 160R: Features and Specifications

Along with a fresh look, the most significant change is likely to be new front forks. If the spy pictures are to go by, Hero will replace the telescopic front forks with the new upside-down front forks. Apart from that, the motorcycle is likely to a rear monoshock, single-disc setup aa fully digital console, smartphone connectivity, and LED lighting, among others.

New Hero Xtreme 160R: Price and rivals

Currently, the on-sale Xtreme 160R is available in four variants and its prices range between Rs 1.18 lakh and 1.29 lakh (both ex-showroom, Mumbai). However, the new model could command a slightly higher premium. Upon launch, it will compete against the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160.
