Facelifted Honda CR-V Special Edition launched in India at Rs 29.50 lakh

Honda Cars India has launched the facelifted Honda CR-V in India as the Honda CR-V Special Edition. This SUV is available in a single variant and is priced at Rs 29.50 lakh, ex-showroom. Along with refreshed looks, the CR-V Special Editon also comes with a longer list of features to justify the Rs 1.23 lakh premium it charges over the regular version.

The visual changes to the CR-V Special Edition are the slight de-chromed, gloss black finished grille, the new bumper with the vertical chrome slates and new air dam, a new chrome-accented rear bumper and redesigned 18-inch wheels.

The interiors have remained unchanged although there are new features like an active cornering function for the LED headlamps, a four-way adjustable passenger seat, a hands-free powered tailgate, auto-folding ORVMs and front parking sensors. A special edition kit further adds running boards, doorstep illumination and an outer mirror garnish.

This is in addition to already present features like the panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, seven-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple Carplay, a digital instrument cluster, lane-watch camera, auto headlamps and wipers and ambient lighting. Safety features include front, side and curtain airbags, hill-start assist, driver attention monitor and an electronic parking brake.

The CR-V is available with a single petrol engine option, the 1.6-litre diesel having been discontinued after the shift to BSVI norms. This 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol makes 154PS at 6,500 rpm and 189 Nm at 4,300 rpm and pairs with a CVT. There is no AWD option. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency number for this is 14.4 kmpl.

The Honda CR-V competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq petrol and ladder-frame SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the newly-launched MG Gloster.
