BMW India has stated that the updated X5 luxury SUV would be available in India on July 14. The revised BMW X5 made its debut in February 2023 and is the first significant mid-life facelift for this generation of the X5.

BMW X5 facelift: Design

The X5 receives a new front grille as part of a mid-life refresh, along with a reprofiled front bumper. The headlights too get a sleeker look now, much like the ones we see on the newer BMW models. Towards the rear, the changes are limited only to the brake lights and a revised bumper.

After cancelling the Luxury Line, BMW India now only retails the current X5 in the M Sport trim in both its diesel and petrol guise.

BMW X5 facelift: Powertrains

Speaking about the engines, the X5 facelift will come with updated versions of the 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine and will also feature a 48V battery that will provide 12PS and 200 Nm through an electric motor installed on the gearbox.

The diesel engine now produces 298PS and 670Nm of torque and the petrol engine has 381PS and 520Nm of torque. Both engines are driven by an eight-speed automatic gearbox and come with standard all-wheel drive. The X5 does come with V8 engines as well as plug-in hybrids but that's only for international markets at the moment.

BMW X5 facelift: Interior

The revised X5 has considerable interior improvements. The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 14.9-inch instrument panel are combined into a single curved display. Additionally, the interior is illuminated by an ambient light strip with 15 configurable colours. The entire centre console has been redesigned to give a more minimalist and elegant feel.

In terms of tech, the X5 facelift features, the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package for SUVs which includes Highway Assistant. With this device, drivers may detach their hands from the wheel while travelling at up to 137 kmph on restricted access roadways. Additionally, the instrument cluster has an assisted view mode that displays the cars that the cameras and sensors in the current and neighbouring lanes have identified.

The current BMW X5 is priced at Rs 98.50 lakh for the petrol powertrain and Rs 99.90 lakh for the diesel option. Expect a slightly more expensive starting price for the updated model of this luxury SUV.
