Just when you think that scooters are the most affordable vehicles in India, BMW sticks their brand logo onto one and price it at Rs 9.95 lakh. The all-new BMW C 400 GT maxi-scooter has stepped foot into the Indian market and yes you heard us right, prices start at Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

BMW Motorrad brings the C 400 GT to India not only as the most expensive scooter on offer by quite some margin but also as the most powerful scooter in the Indian market. The 350cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder 4 stroke engine is the main talking point of this maxi-scooter as it produces a wholesome power of 34PS and at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 35 Nm at 5750 rpm.

The C 400 GT's motor powers it from a halt to 100 kmph in 9.5 seconds and if that isn't extreme enough, twist the throttle and it will keep accelerating till it reaches 139 kmph.

It will be pretty impossible to miss the BMW C 400 GT on the streets as its broad and beefy styling gives it plenty of road presence. Some of the major characteristics are full LED headlights, a wide windscreen, a step-up bench and an upswept exhaust. Style Triple Black and Alpine White are the only two shades this new scooter will be available in.

At the front, there's a telescopic fork, and at the back, there's a double swingarm connected spring strut suspension. Both ends of the scooter have disc brakes, and BMW Motorrad ABS comes as standard.

A Multifunctional instrument cluster with a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen is standard on the new C 400 GT. The BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller allows quick access to the scooter and connection features for the rider. The BMW Motorrad Connectivity App is included with the scooter. Automatic Stability Control (ASC), a Seat Storage Compartment with optimum illumination, and a USB charging connection are among the scooter's other notable features.

Sitting at the extreme top of the scooter market in India, there is no other competition as such for the BMW C 400 GT. Bookings for the new maxi-scooter have begun at all BMW Motorrad India shops as of today.

Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, "The launch of all-new BMW C 400 GT heralds a new era in the urban mobility segment in India. This progressive and agile mid-size scooter is designed to conquer the city and long touring destinations with ease. Whether riding into the city centre, travelling to the office or enjoying a weekend tour– the all-new BMW C 400 GT is the perfect partner to enjoy riding to the fullest: not just as alone but with a passenger too."
