After witnessing a slew of spy pictures and rumours, Porsche has officially pulled the wraps off the new Macan EV. For India, the Macan EV's Turbo trim has been priced from Rs 1,65,05,000 (ex-showroom). The marque has opened its order books for the electric SUV in the country with customer deliveries are scheduled to commence in the second half of the year. That being said, Porsche will offer the Macan EV in two trims globally, Turbo and 4. However, the Indian market gets only the Turbo trim for now.

Porsche Macan EV: Design and Interior

The all-new Macan EV bears a strong resemblance to the ICE Macan in terms of design. But it stands out with new headlamps, bumpers, wheels, and distinctive taillamps with a full-width light bar. In fact, the electric counterpart of the Macan is not only considerably longer in length but is also wider and lower. The roofline of the EV is more slanting than the regular Macan. Thanks to active front flaps, underbody covers, and adaptive rear spoiler, the Macan EV is a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, which is said to be the lowest drag coefficient for any on-sale SUV.

Further, it uses a new PPE platform, which is a short for Premium Platform Electric. The upcoming Audi Q6 e-tron will also benefit from the same platform as well as the Cayenne EV. Coming back to the Macan EV, Porsche has given it a frunk with a capacity of 84 litres.

On the inside, the interior is easily recognisable and is identical to the new Porsche models. However, the gear selector has been moved to the dashboard. There are three screens: a 12.6-inch driver display, a 10.9-inch central information hub, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger screen. Also on offer is an optional heads-up display with an augmented reality (AR).

Porsche Macan EV: Range and Performance

A 100kWh battery pack offers a WLTP range of up to 591km in the Turbo trim and up to 613km in the 4 trim. Powered by 800V architecture, the EV supports 270kW ultra-fast charging and up to 11kW AC. The 270kW charger can charge it from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 21 minutes. The Macan EV 4 and Turbo deliver 402PS/650Nm and 630PS/1,130Nm, respectively. Both models come powered by a dual-motor setup, hence permanent all-wheel-drive.

Notable features include Porsche Active Suspension Management, coil springs on the 4 with new dual-valve dampers, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and Porsche Traction Management, and optional rear-wheel steering with a maximum angle of five-degree.
