All-new Mini John Cooper Works to race at 24 Hours of Nurburgring

The new Mini John Cooper Works is all set to make its first debut at this year's 24 Hours of Nurburgring â€" one of the toughest endurance races in the world and challenging drivers and teams to conquer the Nurburgring Nordschleife over a gruelling, day-long battle of speed, skill, and reliability. Interestingly, the new Mini John Cooper Works will compete in the SP 3T category with the private racing team Bulldog Racing.

That being said, the hot hatchback has been partially revealed covered in what the brand calls a bespoke camouflage designed by the Mini design team to pay homage to the iconic red and white shades used for the classic Minis in motorsports in the '60s. There is also a "37" badge commemorating the marque's triumph at the 1964 Rallye Monte Carlo, 60 years ago.

With its world premiere slated for fall 2024, the Mini John Cooper Works will bring another petrol-powered hot hatch alongside an all-electric version. Yes, Mini has also confirmed a JCW version of the Cooper SE.

Earlier this year, Mini announced the new-gen Cooper hatchback. Available in three- and five-door versions, it comes with a 1.5-litre B38, three-cylinder, petrol engine producing 156PS/230Nm and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged B48 engine that makes 204PS/300Nm. More to the point, the new John Cooper Works is expected to get the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine but is likely to be tuned up to produce north of 250PS. The previous model generated 228PS. It will be available only with an automatic transmission as Mini stopped producing the manual gearbox hatch last year with the John Cooper Works 1to6 special edition.

Not to forget, the upcoming Mini JCW is likely to bring an upgraded suspension system, a performance-oriented chassis, lightweight components and parts, race-specific modes and menus, tweaked transmission, and 50-50 weight distribution to achieve greater ride and handling, responsiveness, and agility.
