Ducati has unveiled the second-generation DesertX, introducing a comprehensively updated version of its adventure motorcycle. The company says the new bike has been reworked from scratch, shaped by customer feedback and lessons learned from rally racing programmes.

- Powered by 890cc V2 engine pushing 110 PS and 92 Nm
- Rides on Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres

- India debut by fourth quarter of 2026

At the heart of the new DesertX is Ducati's latest 890cc V2 engine, which also powers models such as the Ducati Panigale V2 and Ducati Multistrada V2. Although the displacement is lower than the previous 937 cc Testastretta unit, output remains the same at 110 PS and 92 Nm. Ducati claims 70 percent of peak torque is available from just 3,000 rpm, aiming to improve low- and mid-range usability for off-road riding.

The gearbox has been revised to suit adventure duties. The first four gears are shorter to offer better control at low speeds, while sixth gear is taller for more relaxed highway cruising. The engine also plays a structural role in the new monocoque frame, contributing to overall rigidity and weight management.

Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable KYB units. Up front, the USD fork offers 230 mm of travel, while the rear monoshock delivers 220 mm of travel through a new full-floater linkage system designed to improve response over rough terrain. Braking hardware includes Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers biting into new 305 mm discs. The DesertX continues with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubeless spoked wheel setup, wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, underlining its dual-purpose intent.

Ergonomics have also been updated. The foot pegs are positioned slightly further back, while the seat and handlebar have been moved forward for a more balanced riding posture. The new 18-litre fuel tank is slimmer and lighter, and Ducati says the fuel load sits lower to help centralise mass and improve handling. Seat height is 880 mm as standard, but can be reduced to 840 mm with an optional low seat and suspension kit.

Despite the updates, the claimed wet weight (without fuel) stands at 209 kg, which is 1 kg lighter than before.

On the electronics front, the DesertX gets a bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control and a 6-axis IMU that enables cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and engine brake control. Riders can choose from six riding modes - Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally, with all information displayed on a new 5-inch TFT screen.

The new DesertX will go on sale in Europe from April 2026. Ducati has confirmed that the motorcycle is scheduled to arrive in India in the fourth quarter of 2026.
