Honda has updated the Africa Twin range for the model year 2024, bringing in changes to its styling, engine, and other components. Internationally, the adventure motorcycle is available in a choice of two trim levels: CRF1100L Africa Twin and CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports. The latter also features a new front wheel and tweaked suspension.

2024 CRF1100L Africa Twin: Powertrain

Powering the 2024 Africa Twin is a 1,084cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine married to either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission. This motor produces the same 102PS but its peak torque has gone up by seven per cent to 112Nm and is now available from 5,500rpm compared to the previous 6,250rpm. Also, the engine now provides more power and torque in the low and mid rev ranges. The compression ratio has been increased from 10.1:1 to 10.5:1, while Honda has also carried out changes to its valve timing, intake ports, and ECU to draw more performance from each stroke. There is a new exhaust, which has also contributed to the increase in the performance.

Apart from that, the DCT transmission has been tweaked and now shifts down gears earlier. The brand says that the system has also benefited from improved cornering detection and now offers a more natural 'feathered' feel at the start between first and second gears with increased feel and rider feedback.

On the other hand, the standard Africa Twin can be fitted with an optional Showa EERA semi-active suspension, which was earlier exclusive to the Adventure Sports trim. The suspension can be adjusted on the go via the 6.5-inch display. The raiders can choose from Soft, Mid, Hard, Off-road, and User modes.
