2022 Toyota Hilux engine, specifications

The Toyota Hilux is based on the same IMV ladder-frame architecture as the Fortuner and Innova and shares most of its mechanical components with the SUV. The India-spec Hilux is powered by the same 2.8-litre turbo-diesel that puts out 204PS and 500 Nm and pairs with a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual with 420 Nm. The motor gets only the Eco and Power modes unlike in the Fortuner but is tuned differently to suit this application The Hilux gets the same 4x4 system with a low-range gear and comes with other off-roading gear like hill-descent control, a limited-slip rear differential with electronic rear differential locking and A-Trac brake-based torque-vectoring system. There is also a tyre-position indicator and a variable-ratio steering system.
