Skoda India has now released interior sketches of the upcoming Skoda Kushaq SUV, ahead of its global debut in India on March 18. These come after the production-spec SUV was previewed with design sketches of its exterior.

These design sketches show a far more production-ready interior than what was seen with the Vision IN concept. As with the rest of the Kusahq, the interiors follow the same general theme as the rest of Skoda's SUV lineup but with a bit more flourish to suit the Indian buyer. So there is a stepped dash layout, highlighted by a strong chrome highlight that cuts through the middle and large copper sections on the dash face and doors. There are large vertical air vents at each end while the centre stack is dominated by Skoda's newest 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system on top trims that offers voice commands and wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity.

Below this is a bank of capacitive touch buttons for the climate control, again drawn from newer Skoda and VW models. There also seems to be wireless charging and large storage spaces in the typically Skoda door trim. The lower half of the dash as well as the doors and seat upholstery seem to come in a two-tone white and black colour scheme.

The driver is faced with the new Skoda two-spoke wheel which features scroll controllers as well as what looks like the latest iteration of Skoda's virtual cockpit instrument cluster. Details on the full list of features and conveniences are awaited although Skoda promises that many of its 'Simply Clever' features will make it here, so expect an umbrella holder in the door, a cardholder in the windscreen and a removing boot light among other things.

Skoda has already confirmed that Kushaq will have a 2651mm wheelbase. Also known is that the Skoda SUV will come with a strong suite of safety features, electronic stability control will be standard across the range with other safety features being hill hold control, 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, auto headlamps and wipers and TPMS.

The new 1.0-litre TSI motor that the Skoda-VW combine introduced as part of its BSVI upgrades will be the mainstay of the range. This three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 110PS and 175 Nm will be the engine being offered in the low to mid-spec versions of this new SUV. Aside from a six-speed manual, the six-speed torque converter from the Rapid making its way, with its lower cost and apparent reliability benefits over a DCT. Also, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that debuted in the CBU Karoq and T-Roc will also be available. This 150PS/250 Nm motor will pair with a seven-speed DCT and be offered on higher trims, say a fully-loaded Laurin and Klement version.
