2013 Detroit Auto Show 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and SRT
The India-bound 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee made its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. The biggest news is not about the refreshed looks but about a new 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine plonked under that long hood. All of the 345PS of power it makes is put to the road via all four wheels through a new 8-speed auto transmission. The petrol 3.6-litre V6 and 5.7-litre V8 also get the new transmission. Subtle changes can also be found in the looks (new grille, headlamps and redesigned rear) of the Grand Cherokee SRT which also shared space with the Grand Cherokee at the Detroit floor. Chrysler says that with the new transmission being also mated to the SRT's engine, mid-range punch has also been improved upon from its 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine.
The interiors for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee also get a tweak with a redesigned central console, 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters and an 8.4-inch entertainment system. As is the norm with Jeeps, both the SUVs get their usual stuff of off-roading gadgetry.
Expect Fiat to bring in this updated Jeep Grand Cherokee to India sometime during this year.
