Volkswagen shows off Virtus convertible

Volkswagen is known for has known creating special project vehicles based on its existing models and it recently turned the Virtus into a four-door convertible saloon. Led by a team of 30 engineers, Volkswagen's Brazil arm unveiled this one-of-its-kind Virtus convertible built in a span just over six weeks. It was showcased when Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President, Brazil, visited to Volkswagen's facility in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.

To make this one-of-its-kind Virtus, the team of engineers not only removed the pillars and roof but also reinforced its structure. It also tweaked the length, fuel tank, and doors. Plus, the convertible sedan has been given a transversal bar above the front seat headrests. Additionally, the Virtus convertible adorns a vivid Biscay Blue and a new set of 18-inch wheels, and an all-black cabin.

Interestingly, this is not the first car Volkswagen turned into a convertible. The carmaker had already showcased the T-Roc Cab Edition Grey. While the Virtus open-top is not going into production as of now, the Volkswagen had manufactured only 999 units of the T-Roc convertible. It was powered by a 1.5-litre tubro-petrol TSI Evo2 engine producing 150PS.

Volkswagen manufactures and exports the Virtus from India to Brazil. However, the Brazilian-spec Virtus features Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), while other features are more or less similar to the India-spec model.
