Video: Honda CBR250RR teased

Astra Honda, the official importer of Honda motorcycles for Indonesia has released a teaser video of the CBR250RR. Honda first showcased the CBR 250RR as a concept motorcycle at the 2015 Tokyo Motorcycle Show. Addressed as the Light Weight Super Sports Concept, Honda said that it previews the design of the company's upcoming sportsbikes. Honda had stated that the Light Weight Super Sports Concept has 'a sense of speed that comes from its long nose and low crouching position'.

The 15 second teaser video only gives a few glimpses of the motorcycle without revealing the overall design completely. The visible bits include a clip-on handlebars, chiselled fuel tank, upside down forks, petal disc brake at the front and split seats. Just like the concept version, the production version is also expected to offer a monoshock at the rear, LED headlights, LED tail lamps, dual channel ABS and a digital instrument console. In terms of design, it borrows a lot of cues from the Light Weight Super Sports Concept and that isn't a bad thing at all.

As of now there's no official word on the engine specifications. However, according to rumours the Honda CBR250RR will be powered by a 250cc, twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which will deliver around 40PS and 30Nm of torque. The engine will get mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

There's no information yet on whether the CBR250RR will make it to India. However, considering the spurt of launches in the quarter litre segment we wouldn't be surprised to see it reach our shores. Once the official unveiling happens we shall have more details. Once launched in India, the Honda CBR250RR will compete against the likes of the KTM Duke 200, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha R3.
