Top-spec MG Gloster Savvy 7-seater launched in India, priced at Rs 37.28 lakh

MG Motor India has expanded the MG Gloster line-up by adding a 7-seater version to the SUV's top-spec Savvy variant. This MG Gloster Savvy 7-seater is priced at Rs 37.28 lakh, same as the 6-seater. The MG Gloster is available in four variants - Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The Sharp and Savvy trims get the twin-turbo engine with 4WD. The other two variants get a less-powerful single-turbo iteration of this motor with RWD. The top Savvy trim also exclusively gets the driver assistance functions. At launch, the 7-seater option was only available on the lower-spec versions.

2021 MG Gloster engine, specifications

The MG Gloster is the largest SUV in its class, 4985mm long, 1926mm wide and 1867mm tall. Wheelbase in 2950mm. Powering it is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine that makes 218PS at 4000 rpm and 480 Nm at 1,500-2,400rpm. The motor pairs with an eight-speed torque-converter gearbox. Off-roading gear includes an on-demand four-wheel-drive system, a rear differential locker and a BorgWarner transfer case.

2021 MG Gloster features, safety

Like its siblings, the MG Hector and the MG ZS EV, the Gloster comes with a slew of features, many of them segment-firsts. These include 64-colour ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, 12 speakers, 8-inch digital instrument cluster screen, driver seat massaging and ventilation, diamond stitching seats, LED cabin lights, three-zone climate control, 12-way driver and 8-way front passenger electronically adjustable seats and 8 seat electronic with memory function, second-row captain seats, panoramic sunroof, a fatigue alert system, adaptive LED headlamps and a powered tailgate.

Safety features on the Gloster are cornering lamps, a 360-degree camera, dual front, side and full-length curtain airbags, traction control, hill-start assist, roll-over mitigation and hill-descent control. The iSmart suite of connected tech has also been updated to include mapmyindia online navigation with live traffic , Shortpedia news app and voice song search in the Gaana music app. The driver assistance functions on the top Savvy version include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and an auto park assist.

2021 MG Gloster rivals, prices

The MG SUV competes with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Isuzu MU-X. Prices for the base Super start at Rs 29.98 lakh while the top Savvy six-seater costs Rs 37.28 lakh. MG Motor India's next offering will be the MG Astor mid-sized SUV.
