Tata Tiago AMT XTA launched in India at Rs. 4.85 lakh

Tata Motors has launched the Tiago AMT in India in the XTA trim for Rs. 4.85 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. That's Rs. 40,000 less than the range topping XZA trim and the Tiago automatic was earlier exclusive to this grade.

The EasyShift AMT, as Tata calls the gearbox, is a 5-speed unit. There is also a dedicated Sport mode. The EasyShift also features a creep mode which essentially puts the Tiago petrol in motion as soon as the brake pedal is released, adding convenience in start-stop traffic. The gearbox is mated to the familiar 1.2L three-cylinder Revotron motor that outputs 85PS at 6,000rpm and 114Nm at 3,500rpm. In our tests, the Tiago AMT did 0-100kmph in 16.8s and recorded a fuel economy of 15.88kmpl.

For the Rs 40,ooo you save, the XTA loses out to the XZA on features like front fog lamps, alloy wheels, ORVM mounted turn signals, seat height adjuster, steering mounted controls, rear wiper with defogger, ABS and EBD. Dual airbags though can be ordered as an option.

The Tata Tiago AMT competes with the likes of Celerio VXi AMT (Rs. 4.53 lakh), Renault Kwid 1.0 RxL AMT (Rs. 3.92 lakh) and Wagon R Vxi AMT (Rs. 4.89 lakh ex-showroom). With marginally more power and similar set of features along with the revised entry price, the Tiago now seems a more compelling option.
