Skully reveals innovative P1 helmet
American helmet company Skully has unveiled a highly innovative helmet called Skully P1 at the DEMO Fall 2013 conference, where Skully was one of five companies to win the DEMOgod award. The P1 which is DOT/ECE certified comes with a head-up display, rear-view camera and smartphone connectivity. All of these are powered by a customized version of Android operating system (sorry iOS users). The helmet gets an ultra-wide-angle lens camera at the rear, that gives the rider a real time video feed of all that is behind onto the inside of the visor.
The helmet also offers control over texts, calls, navigation and music. More apps are likely to be added to this helmet including the functionality of sending SOS messages in the unfortunate event of a crash. Providing power to the electronics in the helmet is a USB charger, a single charge of which will last almost nine hours. The helmet is likely to be launched in the market next year.
