Skoda Auto India achieves a milestone of 250 dealerships

Skoda Auto India has achieved an important milestone in reaching the network of 250 touchpoints across India. This milestone was accomplished with the inauguration of a new showroom in Gulbarga, Karnataka. With this, the Czech Republic-based carmaker has announced that it will have a total of 350 customer touchpoints in the country by the end of calender year 2024.

As a part of "India 2.0" project, Volkswagen Group invested one billion euros in the country to develop special new models under Volkswagen and Skoda brands. The first-ever India-specific model to arrive was the Kushaq, followed by Taigun, Slavia, and Virtus. All vehicles share the same MQB-A0-IN platform. Exporting made-in-India was also the plan of India 2.0 project. And Skoda Auto exports the Kushaq to several countries, including Gulf Corporation Council - an economic and political alliance of six nations: Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Volkswagen Virtus/Taigun and Skoda Kushaq/Slavia are powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine generating 115PS and 178Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, inline-four, turbocharged TSI Evo petrol motor that makes 150PS and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual, a six-speed torque-convertor automatic, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Commenting on the occasion, Petr Solc, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, "The Škoda growth strategy in India is about enhancing our product range and also ensuring that we are closer and more accessible to our customers. Our 250th customer touchpoint is a landmark in terms of numbers and reach across the country. We will continue to expand our network and enhance the ownership experience for our customers. This is geared towards welcoming more customers into the Škoda family, providing them with the safest cars in the market."
