Renault delivers 1100 units of Kiger on first day of sales

Renault India seems to be on a good start with its latest, the Kiger. The French automobile manufacturer has delivered 1100 units of the Kiger sub-4m SUV across the country on the first day of sales yesterday. The SUV was launched last month at Rs 5.45 lakh. Powering the Kiger is the new TCe 100 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine that debuted in the Nissan Magnite with 100PS and 160 Nm. The N/A 1.0-litre producing 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque continues in the low-spec versions. Customers can spec the Kiger with either a 5-speed manual transmission, CVT or an AMT. While the former transmission options can be availed on the turbo version, the AMT is offered as standard on the lower-spec 72PS model.

Commenting on the feat, Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations said "With KIGER, Renault has successfully launched yet another breakthrough product, targeted at the core of Indian's automotive market. We thank our customers for their encouraging response on KIGER and our dealer partners for their immense support. Following Duster, which made SUVs accessible to a large set of people, not just in India but across the world, Renault KIGER is all set to make SUV aspirations accessible to a whole new set of customers. We look forward to welcoming more customers into the Renault family with this new game-changer", he added.

The Renault Triber closely related to the Nissan Magnite and competes with it in the lower half of the compact SUV segment. A broad and upright stance, finished with some strong surfaces are a continuous theme on the Renault Kiger. The split-headlamp look from the Renault Kwid has been enhanced here with more detailing. Noticeable are the three-part full LED headlamps, the chromed Renault grille and the prominent lower airdams are standouts.
