Range Rover Velar SUV launched in India, image gallery

The Range Rover Velar has arrived in India at Rs 78.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The all-new Range Rover Velar has been positioned between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in India. The price mentioned is that of the base 2-litre petrol and diesel models. However, if that's not powerful enough for you, Land Rover offers the 3-litre V6 diesel that puts out 300PS/700Nm with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 6.7s. Though, that is still not the most powerful version of the SUV on sale in India. It is the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 with an impressive 380PS/450Nm, which has been not been brought to the country. The all-new Range Rover Velar competes with the likes of BMW X6 and the Porsche Macan in India.  Land Rover has officiallt commenced the bookings for the Range Rover Velar SUV in India, while deliveries will begin  at the end of January 2018. The headlights look like a sleeker version of those on the Range Rover Sport, while the large grille reminds us of the Range Rover Vogue

From the side, there aren't too many design elements to highlight except for the slightly sloping roof and those neat 22-inch wheels

The rear end of the car looks quite rugged and sporty thanks to the cladding on the bumper and the dual exhaust pipes

The symmetrical interior might be a little too bland for some. However, it is quite elegant. The Range Rover Velar will debut the brand's new infotainment system call Touch Pro Duo. It features two 10-inch HD touchscreens that handle separate functions

The Range Rover Velar will have two interior colour schemes. One is this all-black theme. Notice the panoramic sunroof

Internationally, the Range Rover Velar will come with four engine options -- a 4-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine in two states of tune ,a 250PS 4-cylinder Ingenium petrol, a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol.

The premium SUV will compete with the likes of the BMW X6 and the Porsche Macan.

The Velar has been launched with three engine options: The 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel Ingenium motor with 180PS/430Nm, the 3.0-litre V6 diesel which puts out 300PS/700Nm with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 6.7s. The petrol variants will be powered by 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor that puts out 250PS/365Nm

The Land Velar is manufactured at the company's flagship Solihull plant in West Midlands, UK. The same facility also manufactures the Jaguar, Jaguar and the Range Rover Sport.

The most powerful version of the lot, 3.0-litre supercharged V6 with an impressive 380PS/450Nm and a claimed 0-100kmph time of 5.3s has not been brought to India.
