Online bookings open for the BMW M340i shortly, limited units available

BMW India will start accepting bookings for its first-ever locally assembled M Performance model, the BMW M340i XDrive, exclusively via the BMW Online Shop from today (3:40PM onwards). With limited units said to be available to book online for a sum of Rs 1 lakh, the first 40 customers will also be offered a curated driver training course at an 'iconic' Indian race track with BMW Certified trainers on hand to help owners safely explore the limits of their new cars.

At this point, given the health and safety restrictions in place at racetracks, it has not yet been decided whether the Buddh International Circuit in Delhi-NCR, or the MMRT in Chennai will be the location for the driver training course. As for the pricing, we're told a price tag between Rs 65-70 lakh is expected, with the launch for the BMW M340i scheduled for March 10th. Personalisation options for the new M340i come from the BMW M Performance Accessories packs - with Enthusiast, Racer's and Motorsport packages available.

Post the bookings for the first lot of cars, regular direct booking for the M340i will also be made available at a later date. The M340i is only the second performance car from any manufacturer to be assembled in India, joining the very short list spearheaded by the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe. BMW India tells us other M Performance cars will join the ranks through the course of the year. Currently the BMW M range starts with the Z4 M40i priced at Rs 81.9 lakh, followed by the M2 Competition priced at Rs 85 lakh, going all the way up to the M760Li priced at Rs 2.46cr, all prices ex-showroom.
