The Hyundai Tucson has been in the country for over a decade. The Koreans did not offer the second generation model in India, however, in 2015, Hyundai launched the third generation Tucson. This time around the fourth-generation model has been spotted on test in the international market which is likely to be introduced in India by early 2020.
In its third iteration, the SUV appears to have grown in dimensions. The alloys have been restyled and the arches are more angular. The fascia could take cues from the current family design that we see on the Hyundai Venue. A large chrome grille flanked by LED DRLs. The new Tucson could have bumper-mounted headlamps as well. The roof rails get an aluminium finish. As a part of the update, the SUV could get sport a revamped interior.
In India, the current generation Hyundai Tucson gets a 2.0-litre petrol and a diesel engine mated to a manual transmission - The SUV is available with an optional automatic transmission as well. The higher trim comes with an option of all-wheel-drive. However, internationally, the engines could be downsized but could boast a higher output.
The Hyundai Tucson rivals the Jeep Compass, Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan and is currently priced between Rs 18.74-26.95 lakh. The newer model could ask a premium of Rs 50-80,000 across all trims and variants.
