New-gen Suzuki Swift achieves 4-star rating in Japan NCAP

The new Suzuki Swift has earned a four-star safety rating from the Japan NCAP crash test, scoring 177.80 out of 197 points. The Japan NCAP evaluates various safety aspects of cars. This not only includes full-frontal collision, offset barrier test, side collision tests, and pedestrian head and leg protection but also neck injury protection from rear-end collisions, headlight tests, pedal misapplication tests, and autonomous system tests.

The testing process includes a frontal collision, followed by tests on active safety features such as autonomous braking. The full-frontal collision was conducted at 55kmph, while the off-set barrier was done at 64kmph. In the rear-end collision tests, the vehicle's autonomous braking system successfully stops the car, even when reversing, if it comes too close to an object. The system also handles scenarios involving sudden appearances of bicyclists and pedestrians on the road, showing the new Swift's capability to detect and avoid obstacles. Additional tests evaluated the Swift's lane keep assist, side-impact, and frontal collision performance.
