New car launches in India this festive season

Audi SQ7

Expected price: Rs 1.2 crore - Rs 1.4 crore

A 435PS/900Nm 4.0-litre V8 diesel engine makes the SQ7 the most powerful Audi SUV ever made. The company claims the SQ7 will do 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds with a top whack of 250kmph. The SQ7 also gets the world's first electric-powered compressor that eliminates turbo lag.

Facelifted Audi Q3

Rs 32 lakh - Rs 42 lakh

Audi's 177PS/380Nm 2.0-litre diesel engine will be available in the A4 soon. The list of features in the A4 diesel will be similar to the petrol, including a fully digital instrument cluster and an updated MMI interface. The new A4 is based on the lighter MLB platform which allows for improved performance and fuel efficiency.

Audi RS7 Peformance

Rs 1.6 crore - Rs 1.8 crore

Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the RS 7 Performance straps in a 605PS/700Nm 4.0-litre TFSI motor that claims to do 0 to 100kmph in 3.7 seconds and reach a max speed of 250kmph. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2016 Audi A4 diesel

Rs 39 lakh - Rs 47 lakh

Audi's 177PS/380Nm 2.0-litre diesel engine will be available in the A4 soon. The list of features in the A4 diesel will be similar to the petrol, including a fully digital instrument cluster and an updated MMI interface. Honda Accord Hybrid

Expected price: Rs 28 lakh - Rs 35 lakh

The Honda Accord hybrid is powered by a 140PS, 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Earth Dreams petrol engine and a 1.3kW Li-ion battery pack. The total output of the electric and petrol motor is 215PS, with a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.8kmpl. The engine is mated to an e-CVT unit which Honda claims to be faster and more efficient than a regular CVT.

2016 Honda Brio

Expected price: Rs 4.8 lakh - Rs 7.8 lakh

The refreshed Honda Brio is styled similar to the facelifted Amaze, both inside and out. The quality of plastics is expected to be better than before while the cabin space remains unchanged. This update might also bring in the more efficient and powerful 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to the CVT from the Amaze facelift.

2016 Hyundai Tucson

Expected price: Rs 20 - Rs 25 lakh

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is based on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. It looks far more stylish and modern compared to the previous-gen offering. The cabin too has been updated with a 4.2-inch colour TFT LCD instrument cluster, 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with rear-view camera, dual-zone automatic climate control and ventilated seats with eight-way electric adjustment. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor makes 185PS and 400Nm and gets a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Jaguar F-Pace

Expected price: Rs 85 lakh - Rs 1.10 crore

Jaguar will make its debut in the SUV segment with the all-new F-Pace. Based on the new Lightweight Aluminium Architecture that also underpins the XF and the XE, the F-Pace will compete with the Porsche Macan and the BMW X5. The premium SUV gets a 300PS/700Nm 3.0-litre V6 diesel motor, which is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Jaguar claims that the F-Pace can sprint from nought to 100kmph in 6.2 seconds.

Datsun redi-Go Sports

Expected price: Rs 2.5 lakh - Rs 3.5 lakh

Datsun will launch a special edition of the redi-Go hatchback with minor cosmetic updates. While there are no design changes, it will feature special edition vinyls along with newer trim options. It will be on sale only for a limited period though.

Mercedes-Benz SLC

Expected price: Rs 55 lakh - 60 lakh

The Mercedes-Benz SLC is essentially an updated SLK with the brand's new model nomenclature. It gets an all-new face along with an updated cabin with a large 7-inch infotainment screen. The SLC 250d will share the 2.2-litre diesel motor from the C-Class with an output of 204PS/500Nm while the SLC 300 uses a 245PS/370Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine.

Mercedes-AMG C43

Expected price: Rs 1.2 crore - 1.4 crore

The Mercedes-AMG C 43 Coupe gets a 367PS/520Nm, 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes claims that the C 43 Coupe can do 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds, while it will hit an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. It comes equipped with a sportier suspension, larger wheels and more aggressive exterior styling trims.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet

Expected price: Rs 2.0 crore -Rs 2.5 crore

Similar to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Cabriolet gets a slew of equipment, both in terms of safety and luxury. Standard equipment in the S 500 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, AIRMATIC suspension, and heated and ventilated seats, among others. The three-layer soft-top can be raised and lowered at speeds of up to 60kmph in less than 20 seconds. The S 500 comes with a 455PS 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 and does 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz GLC (CKD)

Expected price: Rs 52 lakh - Rs 55 lakh

Mercedes-Benz will launch the locally manufactured GLC in India soon. While the features and engines will continue to be the same, there will be a drop in price owing to the CKD tax structure in India.

Tata Hexa

Expected price: Rs 15 lakh - Rs 20 lakh

The Tata Hexa will be a flagship offering sitting above the Safari Storme in the line-up. Based on the same platform as the Aria, the Hexa gets an SUV-inspired design with the latest Harman-powered touchscreen infotainment system. It gets a 2.2-litre diesel unit that makes 156PS/400Nm and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. Tata Motors might offer an automatic transmission as well. The Hexa will also get a multi-terrain mode, similar to the terrain response seen in Land Rover vehicles.

Mahindra electric Supro

Expected price: Rs 7.5 lakh - Rs 9 lakh

The Mahindra electric Supro gets a 73.2V AC induction motor that makes a peak power of 30kW and generates 90Nm. Mahindra might also offer roof-mounted solar panels on the electric Supro. The electric Supro will have 8-seats and offer a range of 80km.

Volkswagen Polo GTi

Expected price: Rs 20 lakh - Rs 25 lakh

The Volkswagen Polo GTI is the most powerful form of the Polo and will be powered by a 192PS/320Nm 1.8-litre TSI petrol motor. A 7-speed DSG box helps the hatchback sprint to 100kmph in 6.7s and reach a maximum speed of 236kmph. The GTi gets a sporty exterior kit along with performance-tuned suspension for more precise handling.

Volkswagen Ameo TDI

Expected price: Rs 6.5 lakh - Rs 8.5 lakh

Volkswagen will launch the Ameo with a 1.5-litre diesel motor. Based on the EA189 engine, the current 1.5L TDi makes 105PS in the Polo GT and Vento, while in the regular Polo it is 90PS. Expect it to make 2PS and 10Nm more in the Ameo. Efficiency is also expected to go up by about 7 per cent compared to the Polo. Other features are expected to remain the same as the petrol variants.

Nissan X-Trail Hybrid

Expected price: Rs 35 lakh - Rs 37 lakh

Nissan will launch the new-generation X-Trail with a hybrid powertrain. The new and improved design has given it an upmarket treatment while the cabin feels more premium. Based on the CMF platform, the SUV is powered by Nissan's FF hybrid system. It uses a 2.0-litre petrol motor with a peak output of 144PS/200Nm combined with a 41PS/160Nm RM31 electric motor to produce a combined 185PS/360Nm.

Nissan GT-R

Expected price: Rs 1.5 crore - Rs 1.6 crore

The 2017 Nissan GT-R gets a more aggressive design that has not only made it more appealing but also offers better engine cooling. The cabin features a cleaner layout and also comes equipped with a larger 8-inch touch-panel monitor. The new GT-R comes with a 3.8-litre V6 motor that puts out 565PS and 633Nm of torque. It gets a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and can do 0 to 100kmph in 2.7 seconds.

2016 Toyota Fortuner

Expected price: Rs 27 lakh - Rs 34 lakh

The new-generation Toyota Fortuner arrives by the end of the year. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture, the Fortuner gets a completely aggressive design, premium interior and most importantly new engine options. Powering the SUV will be same 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre diesel engines along with a 2.7-litre petrol unit which is also offered in the Innova Crysta.

Volvo XC90 R-Design

Expected price: Rs 85 lakh

The Volvo XC90 R-Design gets sportier additions over the regular offering. These include larger air vents on the bumper, 22-inch R-Design alloy wheels and chrome-tipped dual tail pipes. Inside, it gets sporty seats with R-Design detailing on the gear knob, floor mats and illuminated scuff plates. The engine options will be similar to the regular XC90. However, this one gets a sportier suspension set-up to go with the show.

Volvo S90

Expected price: Rs 50 lakh - Rs 55 lakh

The Volvo S90 is the company's modern replacement of the S80 sedan. Sharing its underpinning with the Volvo XC90, the S90 gets a completely new design complemented by Thor's hammer-styled daytime running lights. The interior too resembles that of the XC90. It gets a 2.0-litre diesel motor that makes 250PS and 350Nm. The S90 will not feature the radar-based safety features from the XC90 T8 Plug-in Hyrbid.

2016 Volvo V40 Cross Country

Expected price: Rs 28 lakh - Rs 34 lakh

Volvo's entry-level hatch will be getting a facelift in the form of the new design that has become a part of the brand's line-up. Engine options will remain the same with no changes to the mechanicals. We are likely to get the D4 diesel engine.
