New BMW X1 and iX1 to debut in India tomorrow

BMW India is all set to launch the new BMW X1 and iX1. The latest generation X1 and its electric version, the iX1, were both introduced earlier in 2022 in international markets.

The new X1 SUV receives a number of exterior design upgrades. The German automaker's entry-level SUV is broader and larger than the outgoing model, which is still on the market in India. In comparison to the current X1 SUV, it is around 43 mm longer, 22 mm wider, and 43 mm higher. More interior room is promised thanks to a 22 mm increase in the wheelbase as well.

The design of the new-generation X1 and the all-electric iX1 will be similar. The automaker's entry-level SUVs will be distinguished by a big front grille flanked on each side by elegant headlights with integrated LED DRLs and turn indicators. The X1 also has a sloping roofline, new alloy wheel designs, and LED taillights that have been restyled.

The all-electric BMW iX1 will be powered by a 64.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor. The engine will produce 268PS, with a 40 PS boost available under high load. The iX1, BMW's smallest electric SUV, will have a WLTP-certified range of 438 km per charge. With the aid of a 130 kW DC fast charger, it can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 29 minutes.

A 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine with 136PS and 230 Nm of torque is anticipated to be available with the new-generation BMW X1. A 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine with 150PS and 360 Nm of torque could also be available. The standard transmission will be a seven-speed DCT.

With the inclusion of additional amenities, the new X1's interior has also been improved. It now has a refreshed dashboard that is dominated by a dual-screen, curved display. The driver display is 10.25 inches and the touchscreen infotainment system is 10.7 inches. Along with new improvements like linked car technologies, the new X1 will also have ADAS capabilities. Along with these features, it will also include a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
