Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xtra Edition launched at Rs 5.36 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has added a special edition to the Wagon R line up, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xtra Edition. The Xtra Edition is essentially an accessory package available on the mid-spec VXi variant that adds a number of accessories at a discount that would otherwise need to be added individually.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xtra Edition new features

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xtra Edition comes fitted with additional kit including bumper protectors, side skirts, wheel arch and bodyside cladding, highlights on the foglamps, grille, boot lid and number plate, interior styling kit, tyre inflator, trunk organiser and car charger extender.

This is in addition to features already available on the Wagon R VXi like keyless entry, front and rear power windows, Smartplay dock with Bluetooth, USB, AUX and two speakers, speed-sensitive door lock, full wheel covers, electrically adjustable outer mirrors. The 1.2-litre version further adds a blacked-out b pillar and steering mounted audio controls.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xtra Edition engine, specifications, fuel efficiency

The Wagon R Xtra Edition is available on the manual versions of both engine options that the Wagon R comes with. The K10B 1.0 litre motor makes 68PS and 90Nm. Joining it in the line-up is the 1.2-litre petrol motor from the Baleno. This makes 83PS and 113Nm. Both units are mated to a five-speed manual in this case, an AMT is also available. The 1.0 litre unit has an ARAI tested fuel consumption figure of 22.5kmpl, while the 1.2 returns 21.5kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Xtra Edition price, rivals

The special edition Wagon R is priced at a Rs 22,900 premium over the standard version, a discount from the Rs 33,000 that the accessories would have cost if added separately. The Wagon R Xtra Edition powered by the smaller engine is priced at Rs 5.36 lakh while the 1.2 comes in at Rs 5.71 lakh, ex-showroom. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R competes with the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and the Datsun Go.
