Maruti Suzuki Dzire leads compact sedan segment with 55 per cent market share, 19 lakh units sold
Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 19 lakh units of the Dzire since its launch in 2009. The company mentions that the Dzire leads the compact sedan segment with a market share of 55 per cent, wherein the other players include the Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and the Volkswagen Ameo. The company has sold over 2.5 lakh units of Dzire in 2018-19, averaging monthly sales of over 21,000 units.

This segment is continuously evolving and growing. Over the years, Maruti Suzuki Dzire has led this growth and it continues to be relevant and attractive to customers. A testimony to its strong customer connect is that the sales of third generation Dzire went up by nearly 20 per cent" commented, Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
He further added, "We keep an ear to the ground to sense customers' demands and translate them into features in our cars. The hugely popular Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology is available across six variants of the Dzire. Nearly 13% of buyers have chosen the automatic variant. Interestingly, for half of the new Dzire customers, the compact sedan is their first car purchase. This shows a paradigm shift of the Indian customers who are ready to start their car ownership with a sedan,"
The DZire is available with two engine options, a 1.2-litre petrol which puts out 83PS/113 Nm and a 1.3-litre diesel with 75PS/190 Nm. The two transmission options are a five-speed auto and a five-speed AMT. Notabe features on the top-end Dzire include automatic LED projector headlamps, LED taillights, LED daytime running lamps, rear AC vents and a touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror-link compatibility. It also gets anti-lock brakes (ABS) and driver and front passenger airbags as standard equipment across the range. Maruti Suzuki claims that the diesel variant of Dzire delivers best in industry fuel economy in passenger cars at 28.4 kmpl while the petrol models offers a fuel efficiency is 22 kmpl.
