Mahindra XUV700 electric spotted testing

With the XUV400, Mahindra has already entered the EV category in India. Following the announcement of a significant investment in EVs, a test mule of what is thought to be the Mahindra XUV700-based electric SUV has been seen.

The spotted test mule was a largely disguised car with no obvious stylistic cues distinguishing it from the ICE XUV700. However, when it was unveiled in the United Kingdom last year, Mahindra announced that the XUV.e8 will be 4,740mm long with a wheelbase of 2,762mm. These figures imply that the electric SUV will be larger and longer than the normal model, as well as have a larger battery pack.

The Mahindra XUV700 electric test mule in this photo is finished in Satin Copper, which Mahindra utilizes as a distinguishing colour on its XUV-based electric vehicles. A similar colour was utilized as an accent colour on the initial XUV.e8 prototype, which was shown last year in the UK.

The INGLO platform will serve as the foundation for Mahindra's electric vehicles. This new electric platform is adaptable and modular. Mahindra has stated that battery capacities would range between 60 and 80 kWh, adding that both RWD single motor and AWD twin motor configurations are possible.

On the interior, there will be three displays, as compared to the previous XUV700's two displays. This triple display configuration initially appeared in the functional prototype of the XUV.e8. The driver's instrumentation will be one of these screens. The centre one will be for infotainment, while the third will be for the front passenger. Expectedly, there will be a full suite of ADAS technology to go with this with Level 2+ autonomy.

Mahindra will launch two new EV sub-brands, XUV and BE. Five concepts were already showcased last year and the cars are due to launch in 2024.
