Mahindra recalls Scorpio Ex variant for pressure regulating valve replacement

Joining the long list of recalls that automotive manufacturers in India have undertaken this year is Mahindra. The Indian company has issued a recall of its Scorpio Ex variant. The affected vehicles are from the October-November 2013 batch and are 900 in number. The potential issue is with the pressure regulating valve and affected customers will be contacted either by the dealers or the company. The replacement will be done free of cost. Mahindra also says that this replacement is only for the Ex variant and no other Scorpio trims have been affected by this recall.

The Ex is the base trim and has a 75PS 2.5-litre m2DiCR engine. The Scorpio Ex is fitted with the Micro hybrid technology and Mahindra claims a fuel efficiency of 14kmpl. Prices for the Ex start from Rs 7.68 lakh for the BS3 and Rs 7.81 for the BS4 variants, ex-Mumbai. The Scorpio is one of the largest selling SUVs for its maker and just a couple of months back Mahindra claimed that it has sold over four lakh units. Over the past two years, the SUV has been steadily garnering sales of over 50,000. Mahindra is also in the process of launching an all-new Scorpio and various test mules have been spotted plying on roads.
