Made-in-India Volkswagen Virtus receives five stars in Latin NCAP

The made-in-India Volkswagen Virtus has achieved a five-star safety rating in the Latin NCAP crash test. Equipped with six airbags and an electronic stability program as standard, the sedan scored 36.94 points (92.35 per cent) for adult occupant protection and 45.00 points (91.84 per cent) for child passenger protection. The Virtus was tested for frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, and whiplash protection.

Volkswagen Virtus Latin NCAP test

The Virtus has been tested for pedestrian protection and safety assist, where it received 25.48 points and 36.54 points, respectively. Latin NCAP, under safety assist, tested various safety parameters of the sedan, including speed assistance, seat belt reminder, electronic stability program, and autonomous emergency braking with front collision warning.

Volkswagen Virtus specification

The Virtus available in India is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 114PS and 178Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre, inline-four, turbocharged petrol motor that makes 148PS and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic, and a dual-clutch automatic.
