Live: Hyundai launches the Grand i10-based Xcent sedan in India

Hyundai India is entering the highly competitive sub-4m compact sedan segment today. The Grand i10-based sedan will take on the likes of the Maruti Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze.  On Monday, Tata Motors unveiled the first of the many compact sedans expected o be unveiled or launched at the 2014 Auto Expo.

First bit of news is that Grand i10 sedan has a name: it's the Xcent.

Here are a few details from the press release:

The Xcent will be available in both petrol and diesel options with manual as well as automatic transmission options.

The front gets swept back smoked headlamps and the rear gets wrap-around tail lamps with chrome inserts.

The rear bumper gets a dual tone sporty look.

The Xcent gets 15 inch diamond cut alloy wheels.

The interiors look spacious. The interiors are similar to the Grand i10. additionally, it gets a rear parking camera and climate control

The dashboard design is similar to the Grand i10 exception being automatic climate control which is a segment first. The rear aircon vents are also a segment first.

Hyundai claims the rear seat is spacious as well and the boot will also have class leading luggage space.

Hyundai has confirmed that sales for the Xcent will start from Mach this year.
