Jeep recall the Wrangler sold in India over a potential safety threat

Jeep India has issued a recall for 39 Jeep Wrangler due to a defective fuel supply line connector. Given that the Wrangler was built in India and went on sale in March 2021, it's reasonable to conclude that it's suitable for daily use.

The recall affects vehicles built between January 24, 2020, and March 17, 2020. There have been reports of the fuel supply line connector splitting, which may have resulted in a fuel leak, a possible fire danger, and potentially the loss of property and lives if ignored.

The Jeep Wrangler is a true off-roading machine. It is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine driving all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. It produces 272PS and 400 Nm of torque. It has locking differentials, Jeep's Rock Trac system with off-road modes and sway bar disconnect for greater articulation, among other off-road features.

Owners of the Wrangler who purchased their cars during the time period stated above, please do contact your local Jeep dealer to have the damaged item replaced. This voluntary recall of the 39 units of the MY20 Jeep Wrangler will begin on November 1, 2021. Before their Jeep Wrangler is delivered to the authorised workshop, appropriate appointments are made with the vehicle owners.

To guarantee complete safety, the damaged item will be examined first and only replaced if necessary.

Nipun Mahajan, Head of Jeep India said, "Customer safety and the quality of our vehicles are the topmost priorities for us. Thanks to our continuous and stringent quality control processes this issue was identified early. Trained technicians at our authorised workshops across the country will conduct the necessary checks and procedures, at no cost to the customers."

The Jeep Wrangler is locally assembled and is priced at Rs 55.15 lakh for the Unlimited variant, while the Rubicon variant is priced at Rs 59.15 lakh.
