Hyundai Xcent to be launched in India on March 12

Hyundai India is all set to roll out its the Grand i10-based sub-4m sedan, the Xcent, on Wednesday. Bookings will start right after the launch. The Xcent is modelled on the same lines as the Dzire and Amaze- sub 4m class sedans. It has the same face as the Grand i10 and there is chrome finish on the air dam. The side profile shows a kink at the lower part. The boot in the meanwhile is a stubby unit and has differently styled tail lamps than the Grand.

Inside the cabin, the materials used are exactly the same as in the Grand i10 except that there is a climate control system in place of the manual AC. Hyundai has also added a rear air blower, something which is unique to sedans of this class. The boot space is also claimed to be more than the others in this segment.

Expect the Hyundai to be priced around a lakh more than the corresponding Grand i10 trim

The Hyundai Xcent in India will come with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol is a 83PS engine which will come mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto transmissions. The diesel is a newly developed 1.1-litre U2 CRDI engine which makes 70PS. Hyundai may also plonk in the 90PS 1.4-litre diesel motor from the i20 into the Xcent. The diesel will be available only with a manual gearbox.

Expect the Hyundai Xcent to be priced around a lakh more than the corresponding Grand i10 trim. The Grand i10 range starts from Rs 4.25 lakh, ex-Delhi.
