Hyundai Exter will come with 6-airbags as standard and over 40 safety features

The Hyundai Exter will soon compete with the Tata Punch in the Indian market. Hyundai India revealed today that the Exter will be the country's first sub-four-meter SUV to come standard with six airbags across all models. Hyundai is already started accepting bookings for the Exter for Rs 11,000.

The Hyundai Exter will come equipped with electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill assist control, ABS with EBD, a burglar alarm, a three-point seat belt, seatbelt reminder for all seats, keyless entry, and rear parking sensors are all included in this package.

Furthermore, the Exter receives improved safety measures that may be limited to top-spec models exclusively. Auto headlights with escort function, rear defogger, rear parking camera, TPMS and ISOFIX are all included. Aside from that, Hyundai will also provide the first-in-segment dashcam with twin cameras.

The upcoming Exter SUV will be available in seven primary variants, starting from EX, EX (O), S, S (O), SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect. Hyundai will also offer it with a CNG version and that will be available in a choice of two variants: S and SX. One of the most notable features of the Exter's safety net is the inclusion of six airbags as standard equipment, a first for an Indian micro SUV.

Powering the Exter will be a 1.2-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. We expect this unit to produce 83PS and 114Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Exter CNG could deliver 69PS and 95Nm of torque. A 1.2-litre petrol motor will be mated to a five-speed manual and an AMT transmission, while the CNG version will be only paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of colour schemes, the Exter will be offered in six single-tone shades namely, Cosmic Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Ranger Khaki, and Titan Grey. Customers will also be able to choose from three dual-tone paint jobs: Cosmic Blue with Abyss Black, Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black, and Atlas Black with Abyss Black.

We believe the prices of the Hyundai Exter to start from around Rs 6 lakh and go up to 10 lakh. Upon launch, the Exter will compete against the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
