Honda showcases VFR800F at the 2013 EICMA show

Honda showcased a new VFR800F at the 2013 EICMA. The bike gets a revision in its engine and chassis.

Power comes from a liquid-cooled four cylinder 782cc. It is good for 104.5PS of power and 75Nm of peak torque. Honda claims linear power delivery and has also tweaked the injection system. It claims improved low- and mid-range power thanks to the optimised cam timing and valve overlap in the VTEC engine. There is also a standard traction control system that can be accessed by the rider to adapt to different riding conditions.

The diamond, triple-box aluminum twin-spar frame stays the same, but there is a 3 kg weight reduction owing to a new die-cast aluminum subframe. The revised single-exhaust system instead of a dual-pipe reduces weight by a further 7 kg. Also new, is a aluminium, single sided swingarm with Honda's Pro-Link rear suspension. A Honda Multi-Action System (HMAS) gas-charged shock that has remote spring preload and stepless rebound damping adjustment works at the rear. Up front is a new 43mm HMAS telescopic fork with stepless spring preload adjustment. Working to bring the bike to a stop are radial-mount, four-piston calipers that hold dual 310mm floating discs in the front and a two-piston caliper with a 256mm disc at the rear.

Other additions include, LED lamp assemblies, self-cancelling turn indicators integrated into the rearview mirrors and refreshed dash that has gear indicator, ambient temperature gauge, fuel consumption and an indicator for the standard five-stage heated grips.
