Honda City diesel to share the Amaze's i-DTEC engine
Honda has unveiled the fourth generation Honda City, and has confirmed that it will also come with a diesel heart (a first in the City) - a tweaked version of the i-DTEC engine found in the Amaze.
The 1.5 litre diesel powerplant borrowed from the Amaze has been, in all likelihood, tuned up for more power and torque in the Honda City without compromising a lot on fuel efficiency that the Amaze i-DTEC is known for.

The best features of this engine is that it is light in weight, compact and has low engine cooling system losses. The i-DTEC also boasts low mechanical friction losses which Honda claims is nearly at par with some petrol engines. In fact Honda has even developed its own engine oil for the same reason.  In the Amaze, the engine offers ideal performance and class leading fuel efficiency while power delivery is very linear with almost no turbo lag. Expect the same engine character in the City as well.
Despite the engine cooling system being smaller than the 2.2-litre diesel that Honda used earlier in a few European models, the 1.5 litre i-DTEC offers better cooling.
