Harley-Davidson recalls 66,421 motorcycles over brake line issue

Harley-Davidson is the latest manufacturer to announce a recall for its products. The recalls apply to its Touring and CVO Touring series of ABS equipped motorcycles, manufactured between July 1, 2013 and May 7, 2014. The problem essentially lies in the brake hose getting pinched between the tank and frame and slowly building pressure in the brake fluid. The possible consequences of this are very serious and could result in the front end locking up without warning.  At some point, this can result in disaster.

The solution apparently involves a dealer inspection and if the problem is detected, then the brake line will be replaced and secured with one or two cables to prevent the hose from getting pinched again. Harley-Davidson will be carrying out the service free of cost.

It is confirmed, though, that no Harley-Davidsons sold in India have been affected.
