Frankfurt Auto Show 2013: Mini cars
Mini has showcased its entire range at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Mini's Countryman and Paceman are models that have helped the brand shed its image of a small car manufacturer. With seven models and up to eight engine variants, a range of paint finishes, interior designs and options and a list of accessories, the brand offers high customisability. Mini has used the Frankfurt stage to also introduce the latest new additions to the original Mini Accessories program.
The highlights in this product area include the world's first ever retrofit 25-watt xenon headlamp for selected models, the new generation of the portable navigation system developed especially for Mini and the new child seats. In terms of quality, luminosity and range, the retrofit headlamps are identical to the xenon light. They also offer longer service life and lower energy consumption than standard halogen lamps. Another addition is the LED DRLs. The fog light, side light and daytime running light come combined in full LED. Other add-ons include the Navigation Portable XL system with 4.3-inch display, integrated TMC Premium traffic jam warning and innovative holder for integration in the cockpit.
The new child seats, Mini says, provide greater safety and comfort for kids. They are available in three versions covering the age range between 0 and 12. The  child seats are offered in two colour versions. The engines cover an output range of 91PS in the Mini One D to 113PS in the Mini Cooper D and 145PS in the Mini Cooper SD. They come with 6-speed manual transmission, while some models have an optional 6-speed automatic. Certain Minis also get the 'All4' all-wheel-drive system. It offers greater traction, optimised ride stability and agile cornering in all weather and road conditions. The other cars in the Mini lineup are the Convertible, Roadster, Clubman and Clubvan.
