Four-wheeler sales in India for May 2016

Just like March and April 2016, May too has turned out to be a good month for most car manufacturers in terms of sales. Maruti Suzuki has registered a growth of 10.6 per cent while Hyundai has seen a growth of 10.4 per cent. Here's a compilation of the sales numbers released by different passenger vehicle manufacturers.

Ford India

Ford India has announced that it sold 5,780 units in the passenger vehicle segment in May 2016. During the corresponding period last year, it sold 4,726 units.

Commenting on the sales performance, Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, marketing, sales and service at Ford India, said, "Ford continues to grow faster than the industry. This is a proof point of our relentless focus on transforming the Ford brand in India with transparency and attentiveness at its core. Besides our fresh and dynamic product portfolio, Ford is focused on enriching value of ownership for Indian customers through transparent initiatives like Service Price Promise and Parts Pricing Calculator which are now available on our website."

Ford India recently launched a new Black Edition of the EcoSport which is available in Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+ trims. It is not a limited edition model and will be sold along with the regular EcoSport version.

Honda Cars India

In the passenger vehicle segment, the company has announced that it registered sales of 9,954 units for May 2016. During the corresponding period last year, it had sold 13,431 units. Hyundai Motor India

May 2016 has turned out to be a good month for Hyundai Motor India with 41,351 units sold. It is a 10.4 per cent growth over the corresponding period last year. In May 2015, the company had registered sales of 37,450 units.

Speaking on the company's sales performance, Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Hyundai Motor India, said, "In market seeing challenges of stressed rural demand and uncertainty on diesel vehicles, Hyundai volumes grew by 10.4 per cent with sales of 41,351 units continuing the buildup of positive growth momentum on the strengths of strong performance of the three Indian Car of the Year brands Creta, Elite i20 and Grand i10 with heightened expectations of increase in demand on the predictions of good monsoon."

The company has just launched the Grand i10 automatic in Magana variant which is priced at Rs 6.21 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki India

India's biggest carmaker has sold 1,13,162 units in the domestic passenger car market in May 2016, registering a growth of 10.6 per cent. In May 2015, the company had sold a total of 1,02,359 units. Recently, Maruti Suzuki recalled 75,419 units of the Baleno and 1,961 units of the Dzire in India.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has registered a growth of six per cent with 12,200 units sold. In May 2015, the company had sold 11,511 units.

Launched in May, the Toyota Innova Crysta has already received 20,000 bookings and currently has a waiting period of two to four months depending on the trim and colour.
