Facelifted Volkswagen T-Cross debuts as what the updated Taigun will look like

Volkswagen has previewed a near-production model of the updated T-Cross small SUV, which is similar to the Volkswagen Taigun sold in India. The two mid-size SUVs feature essentially identical designs, as well as cabins that are very similar. So, yes, the revised T-Cross showcases certain design elements that may be included in the upgraded Taigun. The vehicle comes with a new design, improved standard equipment, new technological features, and a freshly designed premium interior.

Volkswagen T-Cross: Design

From the exterior, the revised T-Cross is easily identified by its new front and rear designs, which include new integrated LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillight clusters. The LED matrix headlights IQ.LIGHT is a wholly new Volkswagen development and is available for the first time on the T-Cross.

New tail lights and wheel styles may be featured in the India-spec Taigun, while the front end may receive a customized design touch with more chrome. Three new colours have been added to the model line: Grape Yellow, Clear Blue Metallic and Kings Red Metallic.

Volkswagen T-Cross: Powertrains

The T-Cross has the same powertrains as the Taigun in India. The Taigun comes with a 115 PS, 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and the 150PS, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. Depending on the engine, a 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque-converter automatic, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox are available as options.

Volkswagen T-Cross: Interior

The new T-Cross' cabin is similar to that of the present Taigun, however, there are some small differences. The dashboard has been rebuilt and layered, with a free-standing 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment device replacing the 10-inch unit that was integrated into the Taigun's dashboard. Volkswagen also claims that the quality of the materials has improved, something we expect to witness in the Taigun as well.

The T-Cross is equipped with auto climate control, a digital driver's display, keyless entry with push button start, 6 airbags as standard, electronic stability control, and, most notably, ADAS features. Read more about the Taigun's 5-star safety rating here.

The new T-Cross will be available in the overseas market by early 2024, and Volkswagen may launch the facelifted Taigun in India by the end of the year. It will almost certainly cost more than the existing Taigun, which costs between Rs 11.62 lakh to Rs 19.46 lakh (ex-showroom).
