Volkswagen Taigun achieves 5-star safety rating at Latin NCAP crash test
The made-in-India Volkswagen Taigun has received a complete 5-star safety certification from Latin NCAP. It is worth noting that the Volkswagen Taigun has already received 5-star safety certification from Global NCAP, making it one of India's safest mid-size SUVs. Volkswagen's Taigun was a crucial component of Volkswagen's India 2.0 strategy and has proven to be a highly successful product for the corporation.
The Indian-made In Latin American countries, Volkswagen Taigun comes standard with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Autonomous Emergency Braking. In terms of safety ratings, the SUV received 92 percent for adult protection, 92 percent for kid protection, 55 percent for pedestrian and vulnerable road user protection, and 83 percent for the safety aid system.
The testing techniques used by Latin NCAP and Global NCAP are slightly different. Latin NCAP observed strong protection to the adult's neck in the event of a rear crash, with the car also fulfilling rear impact structural standards.
The vehicle was evaluated for frontal collision, side impact, side pole impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection, city and interurban Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Speed Assist, and ESC. According to Latin NCAP, all of the standard and tested equipment performed well, earning the Taigun five stars.
Fuel leakage was discovered to be negligible, reducing fire threats during collisions. In terms of child occupant protection, the dynamic score was 24, the CRS installation score was 12, and the vehicle evaluation score was 13. In all, 45 points were earned. The VW Taigun also complies with UN127 pedestrian protection rules.
