BSVI Tata Harrier automatic bookings commenced - Launch at Auto Expo 2020
Tata Motors has revamped its Harrier SUV with a new BSVI compliant diesel engine and automatic transmission, also filling the void inside the cabin with a panoramic sunroof and powered driver seat. With the next generation Kryotec170, the 2.0-litre diesel now produces an increased power output of 170PS over the 140PS in the outgoing SUV, while the torque figures remain the same at 350Nm. Tata has also put up a Hyundai sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox in the Harrier which is likely to be offered in higher trims. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be a standard offering in the new SUV.
There are also some cosmetic changes in the new Harrier, with a new Calypso red colour option, two-tone diamond-cut R17 alloys and newly designed outer mirrors with turn indicators. The cabin of the Harrier now features a new 6-way powered driver seat with adjustable lumbar support, engine start/stop, auto-dimming rearview mirrors and a panoramic sunroof.
The Harrier automatic comes in three variants - XMA, XZA and the XZA+, out of which the XZA+ trim will come with all the bells and whistles to go with. Tata Motors has commenced the booking for the new Harrier with a token of Rs 30,000. No details regarding the pricing as of now, but with all the incremental updates, we expect a price hike of Rs 1-1.5 lakh over the current model. The Harrier SUV will rival the BSVI compliant Jeep Compass, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and the upcoming 2020 Mahindra XUV500.
