Automobile launches this September in India

While we thought last month was it, September is proving to be a shocker as far as launches in India go. We have a mix of motorcycles as well as cars. Some starting as affordable as Rs 70,000. Well, we were talking about a motorcycle there (the Gixxer 155). Few manufacturers have confirmed the launch date while others are still thinking about their opportune moment. Here is a list of the confirmed and not so-confirmed launches this month.

Suzuki Gixxer

Suzuki's all-new launch in the 150cc segment in nearly four years, the Gixxer, carries a lot on its shoulders. It has an all-new body, the highest power in its class if you excuse the Apache RTR 160 for virtue of being a 160cc, fuel economy and the works. While the on-road prices are already out courtesy Suzuki's website, the ex-showroom price remains to be seen. We expect the Japanese manufacturer to price it around Rs 70,000 ex-Delhi. There is only one variant with a front disc and rear drum. We have ridden the motorcycle, however a non-disclosure agreement till September 10 (ninth is the launch) plays the spoilsport.

KTM RC200/390

Perhaps the way affordable performance motorcycling was seen changed with the introduction of the KTM 200 and 390 Dukes. Their bigger siblings, the RC200 and RC390 are expected to follow the same path. The powerhouses have been extensively ridden by us both on track and on Expect the RC200 to start at Rs 1.75 lakh while the 390 should be around Rs 2.30 lakh. Launch happening on September 9.

Skoda Yeti

The first time it was launched, the Yeti didn't strike a chord especially due to its high price. Skoda will want to rectify this with the facelifted version. We have driven it and think that it is a major improvement over the outgoing model. It has the bling that you will expect from a SUV in this category both outside and inside. A single 2.0-litre TDI engine makes 110/140PS depending on the choice of driven wheels you select. The Yeti launches on September 10.

Mercedes E350 CDI

Mercedes will be plonking a V6 diesel engine in the E-Class come this 11th. This 3.0-litre motor makes 245PS of power and a massive 620Nm of torque. It will be mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Expect all the luxury that you got in the four-cylinder petrol and diesel variants and some more.

Lamborghini Huracan

Lamborghini's LP610-4 will officially be launched in the country on September 22. The super car boasts a 5.2-litre V10 engine which makes 610PS and 560Nm. It comes mated to a seven-speed dual clutch auto transmission. Lamborghini claims that the Huracan will hit the ton in 3.2 seconds and go on till an electronically limited top whack of 325kmph. Expect a price around Rs 3.4 crore.

Mercedes GLA

The smallest Merc SUV will be in India come September 30. This is the German's ticket to the luxury compact SUV segment which has been giving a chunk of the sales to its rivals. The GLA is a stylish SUV based on the A-Class. It will come with petrol and diesel engines, borrowed from the A-Class that again. Ray Hutton drove it in Europe and he says it could just be perfect for India. Expect it to have a price tag around Rs 30 lakh.

Skoda Rapid

A updated Rapid was always on the cards especially since the current one didn't win too much favour. Skoda will also bring in the new 1.5TDI and DSG. There is also an expected facelift with more interior trim. Expect a price which will undercut the upcoming Vento by a significant margin. This one has a launch date set for September 30.
