2024 Honda Prologue makes global debut as the brand's first electric SUV
Honda's brand-new electric SUV, the Honda Prologue, which is created in collaboration with General Motors at the Honda Design Studio in Los Angeles, has finally been unveiled. The SUV will be launched in 2024 in North America and will be positioned above Honda CR-V and alongside the Honda Passport.
The Honda Prologue's current style and performance in both on- and off-road situations will mirror each other. A prominent black bar at the front, sleek LED headlamps, top-mounted LED DRLs, a sizable fake air dam, and vertically stacked fog lamp housing are some of the vehicle's standout characteristics. Large 21-inch wheels and a lengthy wheelbase give the side profile an air of grandeur.
The electric SUV's wheelbase is 203 mm longer and 127 mm wider than that of the new Honda CR-V. Smooth curves can be found on the door panels, and striking black colour is used for the SUV's cladding. The colour of the Prologue will be a unique North Shore Pearl, which draws inspiration from the natural beauty of California's Lake Tahoe.
The Prologue is constructed on GM's Ultium platform, which also serves as the foundation for electric SUVs including the GMC Hummer, Cadillac Lyriq, and Chevrolet Blazer. The Prologue SUV is described as "neo-rugged" by Honda.
Although the Honda Prologue's powertrain specifications have not been made public, they could be quite similar to those of the Chevrolet Blazer EV. Up to 515 km is the approximate range of Blazer EV. It produces 557PS and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in less than 4 seconds. Autonomous emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front collision alert, and auto high beams are anticipated to be included to the Honda Prologue.
The interior's colours are inspired by mountain snow, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen is located in the centre of an 11-inch digital instrument panel. In the US, where new diesel vehicles will be phased out by 2025 and new petrol cars by 2030, the Honda Prologue will be a significant model for Honda.
As for the India launch, we'll have to just wait and see as Honda still doesn't have an SUV in its portfolio here.
