2023MY Triumph Street Triple line-up revealed
Triumph Motorcycles has just spiced up the middleweight naked roadster segment with the unveiling of its 2023MY Street Triple 765. Powered by the same 765cc motor that you currently see on the grid of Moto2 racing series bikes, this new Street Triple promises to be even more advanced and precise naked-sports bike of its kind.
There are three versions of the new bike to be that have been revealed, namely the standard Street Triple, the more equipped Street Triple RS model and the top-spec Street Triple Moto2 Edition, which as its name suggests is the closest you'll come to riding a closed circuit competition bike legally, out on the road. There will be two colour options of the Moto2 Edition Street Triple and 765 will be produced of each, but sadly Triumph informed us that none of the 1,530 limited production bikes will be sold in India.
Before you begin shed a tear with that news, here's what's new with the naked-sport.
New Design: From afar, the 2023MY Street Triple may resemble the Street Triple from before, but closer inspection will reveal all new bodywork that is more aggressive than the older bike, and the model also gets some new graphics thrown in for additional comfort as well. The bug eyes look the same but the small deflector that sits above them is a lot smaller now, the tank is a new, bigger 15-litre reservoir, the radiator cowls are new too. The new silencer looks pretty slick too, as does the bike with the new colour coded pillion seat cowl (RS and Moto2 Edition). The RS and Moto2 Edition bikes also get new clip-on bars that are 80mm lower and 50mm further forward for a more aggressive riding posture.
Updated Motor: The 765cc triple engine has received a significant amount of upgrades. The motor now gets a new combustion chamber, a higher flow inlet port, new pistons, increased cylinder limits, an increased compression ratio and a lot more. The result - a max power output of 120PS at 11,500rpm which is a 2PS boost in over the previous standard MY bike, while the RS and the Moto2Edition bump it up to 130PS. Max torque is now 80Nm 9,500rpm on all three models. Triumph say that the torque on the new Street Triple is spread a lot better through the range. The bike also gets revised (shorter) gearing to make it feel a lot livelier and final drive to give it improved roll-on response
Electronics and aids: The Street Triple R gets four ride modes – Road, Rain, Sport and a user customisable mode with revised engine maps, while the RS and Moto 2 Edition bikes get an additional Track mode and a lap timer. Lighting is all LED with the Standard R missing out on the DRLs, while the TFT instrumentation is Bluetooth enabled and standard on all three models. Just that the Moto2 themed bike gets a cooler start-up screen. Cornering ABS and cornering traction control systems have been upgraded and the shift assist, and slip and assist clutch are all aimed at making the ride experience a lot smoother than before. The bi-directional quickshifter is now standard on all three 2023 Street Triple models.
